WHAT IS HEAD CASE?

Threading together works by some of Australia’s brightest creative talents, the Head Case exhibition draws upon themes of loss and identity as experienced by those with Acquired Brain Injuries (ABIs). The exhibition aims to raise awareness of this hidden disability.

There are estimated to be 73,000 people with an ABI in Victoria alone, with each and every person suffering in a private world of pain. Sufferers experience outcomes such as memory loss, loss of mobility, independence, speech, language, friendships, confidence, security and their

sense of self.

Photographers, illustrators, designers and artists dip their creative lens into this expansive subject matter to present an exhibition rich in heart and insight.

WHY?

Head Case marks the opening of

The Combined 2nd International Conference on Alcohol and Other Drug Related Brain Injury and the Brain Injury National Conference in September 2008 and aims to raise greater awareness of ABI throughout

the community.

All artworks selected for Head Case by our panel of judges will be for sale during the exhibition. 70% of the total sale will go to the artist, and the remaining 30% will be donated to Brain Injury Australia.

A People's Choice Award of $5000 will be awarded to the selected Artist at the launch of the exhibition.

Head Case seeks to;

1. Educate and inform the wider community about Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).

2. Enhance community awareness of the impact of brain injury on sufferers and their carers.

3. Raise money in support of Brain Injury Australia.
